Shared Streams

A room keeps supported video playback aligned without uploading the media. Each participant loads the source from the original site. CurbTube relays play, pause, seek, position, and playback-rate updates.

Create or join

1. Open Rooms in the popup or full page.
2. Create a named room, or paste the secure invitation from a host.
3. Open a supported video and attach the current tab.
4. Copy the room invitation and send it to the people you invited.

The invitation includes the six-character room code, a strong join proof, and the encrypted session capability. Treat it like a private meeting link. A room code on its own cannot join a new shared room.

The host controls playback and the queue. A host can grant co-host access to a participant, then remove it at any time. If the host leaves, a co-host is promoted first.

Privacy

Room sources and queue items are encrypted with a per-room key. The key travels inside the invitation you share outside CurbTube, not through the room relay. Persistent Premium rooms also wrap the key to your account when sync is available. The Worker never receives a plaintext source URL, queue item, or room key.

Supported playback

CurbTube requests access to HTTP and HTTPS sites so it can open and reattach YouTube, Vimeo, Twitch, direct video, and native or page-provided HLS sources across different hosts. The shared-room media bridge stays dormant until you explicitly choose Attach tab or Open source. Other tabs do not become room players and do not run playback observers or heartbeats.
