Enable Sync

Turn on encrypted sync and choose how your key is protected.

Sync is opt-in. When you enable it, the entities you choose, including bookmarks, notes, snippets, profiles, watchlist and vault entries, travel end-to-end encrypted to your other devices. The server stores and forwards ciphertext only.

Turning sync on

  1. Activate your license key in the product's settings.
  2. Set a master password so the account has recoverable encrypted key material.
  3. Toggle automatic sync where the product offers it.

Browser extensions can sync in the background and also offer a manual refresh. Mobile sync is foreground-only. Offline mobile edits wait in a local queue until the app is open and connected.

Choosing how your key is protected

Two modes protect your encryption key, but they have different reach:

  • Auto-unlock: a device key is generated and kept on that device. This mode is local-only and cannot recover or join the cloud workspace on another device.
  • Master password: your key is wrapped under a master password. It must be entered to unlock, and a recovery blob lets you restore the vault on a new device.

A master password is required for the current cloud sync path and for decrypting data in the web data manager. CurbApps does not receive the password.

What syncs

The entities you opt in, plus their linked metadata. For the one Premium classification feature, only a title and URL are sent. Page content is never sent.
